CORONAVIRUS AND BAPTISMS

There will be no further baptisms in 2020.

You will have heard in the media that the Westminster government is allowing churches to reopen for Sunday worship: where social distancing can be observed and the other necessary Covid precautions put in place. We have become familiar with these precautions in other public places.

Nevertheless, after examining how we can keep both our members and visitors to our church safe and putting in place the necessary measures prior to our eventual reopening later in the summer, I regret that we cannot as yet return to conducting baptisms in our church. To do so would put your family and your baptism guests at risk navigating unfamiliar surroundings and trying to keep to a safe social distance. Also, we do not have the stewarding resources for large gatherings (which are currently set at a government limit indoors of no more than 30 people).

We are not taking new baptism bookings now.

When we feel confident enough to allow baptisms to take place, only those who have cancelled a baptism will be able to rebook their family baptisms. When those who have had to cancel have booked their new baptism date or decided not to go ahead, we will then be open to take NEW bookings.

The current situation is highlighted below:

          ·        No new baptism bookings

            ·        No rebooking of cancelled baptisms

            ·        All remaining baptisms in 2020 have been
                  cancelled.

Please revisit this page often to see the latest update.

Stay safe and well.
